Beware of Scams!

If you're in danger of having your home foreclosed, be careful. Falling behind on your mortgage is a very emotional event, and while there are a lot of companies that can possbily help you, there are an equal number of companies that will prey on you.

You don't need to pay high fees for foreclosure prevention help. Some companies may contact you promising to negotiate with your lender. But this service often comes with a very high price tag (as high as one or two months worth of mortgage payments). Your lender may be willing to negotiate with you directly, for FREE. You just need to contact them.

If any firm claims they can stop your foreclosure immediately and asks you to sign a document giving them power of attorney, BE CAREFUL.

NEVER sign a legal document without reading and understanding all of the terms and getting professional advice from an attorney, or a trusted Real Estate Professional. Power of Attorney is a very powerful legal right and should be carefully considered.
